UNDERWEAR FACTS!

Male underwear may be much more important to society than you have ever known. Seriously! For instance, it is fact that when the nation's economy is stable, the sale of mens underwear remains good and stable. But in contrast, when funds are in short supply, sales drop rather fast as men tend to wear their underoos more times before getting new ones! Interesting, huh? After all, not too many people sees a guys boxers or briefs all that often anyway. Atleast you would think.

But fun facts aside, well-dressed men must pay attention to the affect that underwear has on their outer look, mood and confidence as well. Just to get this out of the way, and hopefully you already live by this credo, but your underwear should always be without tears, holes and always clean. Whether you believe it or not, wearing raggedy underwear has a negative affect on a mans psyche.

OPT FOR DESIGNER MENS UNDERWEAR?
These days everything comes in a designer form, doesn't it? Designer waters, designer protein powders, even designer dogs! Wow... So are Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein or Burberry underwear for you? There certainly is nothing wrong with them. But with these types of underwear easily costing you upwards of $30 a pair, unless you are looking to model them frequently or spend an inordinate amount of time out of your pants, you may be blowing your money. It may be best to look for quality normal-folk mens underwear or something unique and inexpensive.

KEEPS YOU FEELING COOL IN THE HEAT
When it comes to male underwear, the tank top undershirt, and undershirts in general get a bad rap in warm weather. Some believe that it is better to go without one in warm weather, but for guys who sweat profusely, nothing could be farther from the truth! A thin undershirt works wonders for keeping your outer shirt from sticking to you and getting those ugly sweat blotches all over the place. They also create a layer inside of your outfit to allow your skin to breathe and helps to ventilate your person very well.

OTHER FACTS....

· In 1991, the average bra size in the United States was 34B; today it’s 36C.

· Married men change their underwear twice as often as single men.

· Italians wear red, Argentineans wear pink, and Brazilians wear brand new underwear on New Years Eve

· The loincloth is both the simplest and the most popular form of underwear. It was probably the first undergarment worn by human beings.

· Bras did not exist until 1913 when Mary Phelps Jacob tied two handkerchiefs together with ribbon. In 1928, Maidenform introduced modern cup sizes.

· In 1935, the first men’s briefs appeared. They had a Y-shaped front and overlapping fly on knitted drawers and came in both short and long styles.

· Panty hose, which combined panties and hose into one garment, made their first appearance in 1959, invented by Glen Raven Mills of North Carolina. The company later introduced seamless panty hose in the 1965, spurred by the popularity of the miniskirt.

· The thong first gained popularity in Brazil, in the 1980s as a swimsuit style. By the 1990s, thong underwear became popular and today it is one of the fastest selling styles.

DRAGON'S DEN

DRAGON'S DEN

Hi All! As we move forward in building our brand, an opportunity so extra ordinary has presented itself. Knowing that we just launched our line at the "Everything to do with sex show" in November of last year, I knew that we have a slight disadvantage going in to the "Den". That's right, CBC's Dragon's Den!

On April the 7th while watching a re-run episode of the show, a comment was made on air that really took me by surprise! As a matter of fact I instantly jumped up and applied online. Not knowing when the cut off date was, I checked out their calendar, and wouldn't you know it, it was the 10th of April...yes, that same Saturday!

I was really not expecting to hear back from CBC, as let's face it this line is very "cheeky" and really an 18+ kind of a product. Though to my surprise, they did call the next day asking me to come out to their "last" audition. I hesitated, but decided to take the plunge anyhow.

Shortly after my audition, the producers of the show stated that no "executive" decision was being made on the spot, however they would be in touch should I be selected to appear on the show.

Again, not expecting a call due to the reasons mentioned above. I did indeed get "the call". Wow! Boxxxers(tm) is going to get pitched to the "Dragon's"! Beating out 4000 applicants in over 40 Cities across Canada! What are the odds of that? Our "secret pocket" combined with our "witty" sexual animal characters are that unique. I knew we already were as the Trade Show last year really reinforced our expectations.

On May 18th, we were in action! The experience of seeing the "Dragon's" (Canada's Elite Business Men/Women) in the flesh commenting on our product was over whelming in itself, and very exciting! Really a once in a lifetime opportunity!

The results of the show I cannot disclose. Though I personally invite you all to check out the show starting late September. I posted the link in this blog for more details.

To all who believe in our mission of being Canada's innovating Marketing Team promoting safe sex in a never before seen way, I thank you for your support from the bottom of my heart. Being part of our Facebook Group/Fan Page really shows that you care!

A special "Thank you" goes out to all who are an integral part of this project as well. You know who you are! We would not be where we are today without you!

All the best...Tomas.

MEN ONLY BUY UNDERWEAR TO IMPRESS WOMEN!

A recent study has found that men only buy underwear to impress women. (andreasmarx, Flickr.com)
Finally, a survey confirms what women may have suspected all along: Dudes only drop dough on drawers when they're searching for a mate. A British retailer conducted a study which found that male shoppers don't buy their own underwear until they reach the ripe old age of 19. Who keeps them stocked in skivvies before that? Mom.
Seriously, guys? Doesn't that get a little embarrassing, oh, roughly around the time you outgrow cartoon-emblazoned Underoos? Teen girls begin buying their own undergarments at around 13 years old, the study found. (Anyone who wants another bit of "girls mature faster" ammo, there you go.)
At 19, young men go on a boxer-and-brief buying binge, buying up to 31 pairs a year for the next four years of their life. What's behind this sudden urge for unmentionables?
According to the survey's authors, they're stocking up on skivvies to lure a potential mate. Whether or not designer underpants lead to Ms. Right may be up for debate, but it's interesting to note that underwear purchases by men start tapering off at around the age of 23 and continue that downward trajectory for the next decade. This indicates, the researchers say, that men are settling down into partnerships and turning over the task of underwear-buying to the women in their lives once again.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THREAD COUNT!

**Hi All. Some fans of ours were a little confused about what the thread count means in cotton. I've posted this information for your reading pleasure and to help better understand the quality of a boxxxers(tm) undergarment. All the best!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Truth About Thread Count
The high thread count story hit the bedding market in the mid to late 1990s and has since dominated all conversations about sheets. Now over ten years later it's still the focus of questions asked the most by our customers.

Sheeting Quality Indicators

Fiber Quality
Yarn Size
Finishing
Thread Count & Construction

Fiber Quality: 100% cotton sheets are by far the most popular and widely used type of sheets. (We do also like silk, cotton/silk, modal and linen; but we’re going to focus on 100% cotton.) There is a huge variety in the quality of 100% cotton sheets. The highest quality cotton is long staple cotton. Staple refers to the length of the cotton fiber; the longer the fiber the better because it creates stronger and finer yarns. Among long staple cottons, the longest are Egyptian extra long staple and Pima (sometimes called Supima).

Yarn Size: The fineness of each yarn is what the term yarn size refers to - the higher the yarn size, the finer the yarn. (think of men’s suiting where they often speak of 100s wool etc) Finer yarns allow for lighter, more supple fabric. The yarn size in quality sheets is typically between 40 and 100. Up to 120s may be used also, but are pretty rare (and the resulting product very expensive). Higher thread counts are created with finer yarns, as more of them can be woven into a square inch. Also, super fine yarns can be twisted together, creating 2 ply yarns that can then be woven into sheeting. When 2 ply yarns are made with a very high yarn size, they make a nice product that is not at all weighty or blanket-like.

Finishing: After the cotton yarns are woven into a fabric, the fabric needs to be finished. This includes singeing and mercerizing. The singeing process is vital; it burns off the tiny fuzz that can later develop into pilling on your sheets. Mercerizing is a treatment conducted under tension, in order to increase strength, luster, and affinity for dye. Bed linens of lesser quality may not be singed or mercerized.

Thread Count & Construction: Thread count is simply the number of threads per square inch of fabric. These consist of vertical threads (warp) and horizontal threads (weft) woven together. Construction refers to how the thread count is achieved (# of warp and weft yarns, # of picks in the weft, use of 2 ply yarns etc.) To achieve higher thread counts, sometimes 2 ply yarns are used and sometimes multiple yarns (picks) are inserted into the weft. The FTC has ruled that plied yarns should each only be counted as one thread for the purposes of thread count. This is not enforced, but in response the market has moved more toward single plies with multiple picks as the preferred method of achieving higher thread counts. In weave quality terms alone, the best fabric would be made with single ply yarns and have a single pick; but the highest thread count you can get with this type of construction is about 400. Above that, 2 ply yarns and/or multi-picks must be used.
